Overview

Panthera is a benchtop CNC milling machine modelled end to end in SolidWorks as part of machine design coursework: the welded frame, the three-axis linear motion system, and the spindle assembly.

The exercise covered the full modelling discipline a machine design role expects — assembly structure, moving-part clearances, and a design that could plausibly be manufactured and assembled from off-the-shelf linear rail and lead-screw hardware.

Scope of work

  • Modelled the complete frame and enclosure
  • Built the three-axis linear motion assembly
  • Modelled the spindle mount and tool head
  • Checked assembly-level clearances and motion range
